DIN Rail Mount UPS Power Supplies

DIN Rail Mount UPS

ADM Systems stocks a wide range of DIN rail UPS modules and power supplies from world renowned manufacturers such as MEAN WELL and ADELSystem.

Our range of uninterruptible power supplies includes the following:

  • MEAN WELL DIN Rail Power Supplies with UPS Function
  • Adel System DIN Rail UPS
  • Power Source 240VAC DIN Rail UPS

Below is an overview of these different types of DIN rail UPS solutions:

MEAN WELL DIN Rail Power Supplies with UPS Function

MEAN WELL DRC series DIN Rail UPS Power Supplies

These are perfect for anyone who needs a low cost battery backup of the incoming AC mains supply.

The range consists of 40-Watt, 60-Watt and 100-Watt models.

As well as the primary output, you also have an additional charger output that you can use in conjunction with an external battery. This allows you to build a DC UPS facility into your equipment.

There is no noticeable drop-out at all. When the power fails, your MEAN WELL DRC power supply switches straight across to the battery.

The MEAN WELL DRC series has an input range of 90~264VAC and you have the choice of either 13.8VDC output for use with 12V batteries, or a 27.6VDC output for use with 24V batteries.

In order to maximize reliability, MEAN WELL has designed the DRC series power supplies, so that no fan is required. Cooling is purely by free air convection, meaning that the power supplies generate no noise, and there are no moving parts to fail whilst achieving an ambient operating temperature of -30~+70℃.

All models provide you with alarm signals for AC OK and low battery, enabling simple integration with your control system. The type of alarm output differs according to the model selected as per the below table:

Model

Power Output

Alarm Signal Output Type

DRC-40

40 WATTS

TTL open collector output

DRC-60

60 WATTS Relay contact output

An external voltage source is required for the alarm signal function, the details of which are outlined in the product data sheets for each of the above models.

The below tables set out how the alarm signals operate:

AC OK

The signal is "Low" when the power supply turns ON.

Low (0.3V max. at 30mA)
The signal turns to be "High" when the power supply turns OFF.  High or open (External applied voltage 50V max.)
Battery Low The signal is "Low" when the voltage of battery is under A*:11V, B*:22V.  Low (0.3V max. at 30mA)
The signal is "High" when the voltage of battery is above A*:11V, B*:22V.  High or open (External applied voltage 50V max.)

These DIN rail UPS power supplies feature some useful protections such as short circuit protection, overload protection and over voltage protection. There is also a battery low cut off and battery reverse polarity protection by fuse.

The output voltages can be easily adjusted from the front panel of the power supply.

All models carry UL, CUL, CB and TÜV safety certifications and are supplied through Power Supplies Australia, complete with the RCM mark displayed.

The MEAN WELL DRC series DIN rail UPS power supplies are perfect for use in security systems, emergency lighting systems, alarm systems, DC UPS systems, central monitoring systems and access systems, or any other application where battery back-up of the AC mains supply is essential.

The below diagram shows a typical wiring diagram, for an application that requires battery back-up should the AC mains supply fail.

In this scenario when the AC mains supply is OK the DIN rail UPS power supply charges the battery and provides power to the load at the same time. The battery starts to supply power to the load when the AC mains fails.

ADELSystem's All-in-One DIN Rail DC UPS Modules

ADELSystem is just one of two manufacturers in the World, who offers an All-in-One DIN rail mount DC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) solution.

Each unit has a universal input voltage of 115 ~ 277VAC and is available with the following DC output options:

  • 12V (3A, 6A, 10A, 15A, 35A versions)
  • 24V (3A, 5A, 10A, 20A versions)
  • 48V (5A, 10A versions)

These DIN rail uninterruptible power supply modules are used in many mission-critical applications around Australia, such as powering communications infrastructure which has been installed in remote locations.

The Benefits of Using an AdelSTSTEM DIN Rail DC UPS Module

The critical component in any UPS system is the battery.

Therefore, ADELSystem has built in the concept of battery care into their DC UPS modules.

The quick recovery of almost flat or discharged batteries is guaranteed by ADELSystems’s automatic multi-stage charging system and real-time diagnostics.

The charging system includes 4 charging phases:

  • Recovery of flat batteries
  • Bulk charge with constant current
  • Absorption at constant voltage (Boost if Fast Charger enabled)
  • Float for maintenance

During all phases, battery testing is carried out to guarantee rapid diagnostics and optimum management of switching from one phase to another, according to the specific response of the battery.

What this means is that your battery will have a longer life. Thus, reducing replacement costs and improving the overall reliability of the UPS system.

Remote Monitoring and Control of Your UPS System

Adel’s larger UPS modules are networkable via a DYP351 Display, and you have complete control and visibility of your system via ADELSystem's ADELView System PC based software.

The software allows you to monitor every important parameter of each UPS device in real time. A simple and intuitive user’s interface allows monitoring of battery parameters, load output, temperature sensor, mains presence and all alarm and diagnostic flags. All features are displayed on a single screen.

You can see a demonstration of the software in the video clip below:

As well as real time monitoring you can also configure each UPS device, set and monitor alarms and check back on the history of the operation of the system.

AdelSystem DPY351 UPS Controller and Display

The DPY351 is a combined display and controller for your DIN rail mounted UPS devices.

It enables you to see all the devices that are connected to an ADELBus Network and has an Ethernet input for remote connection.

Up to 30 can be connected to each DPY351 controller giving you access to vital information such as:

  • All the parameters of each of the connected devices
  • History data from all connected devices
  • Number of back-up events carried out
  • Data alarms
  • Event log & data Log

You can also use the DPY351 to configure your Adel UPS devices.

It has an ingress protection rating of IP65, making it suitable for installation in harsh environments and has a bright 3.5” TFT LCD display, with a wide viewing angle.

The below video gives you an idea of how the DPY351 can be used:
