Surge Protection Required to Protect MEAN WELL DRC Series Power Supplies

The MEAN WELL DRC series power supplies are a DIN rail power supply with incorporated battery charging function.

In the event of an AC mains supply failure, they will switch to supply the load from the back-up battery (not supplied). When the AC mains supply is restored, they will resume to supply the load from this source and recharge the back-up battery. 

The DRC series has proven to be very reliable over the years. However, it can be susceptible to damage from surges in the incoming AC supply. Failures caused by power surges are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. 

Therefore, ADM strongly recommends that you install some form of surge protection to protect the DRC power supply from fluctuations in the incoming AC supply.
